Integration Manager for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 SP3 Build Issue

The Dynamics GP Support and Services Blog tackles the error message “Error: -Access to the path 'C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Dynamics GP\11.0.0.0' is denied.”

Weekly Dynamic: AutoDIM

I've mentioned before that there are some other tools that are now free along with the Professional Service Tools. One of those is AutoDIM or Auto Dynamics Integration Manager.

AutoDIM allows you to launch Microsoft Dynamics GP and run one or more integration or integration groups and have Dynamics GP exit when the integration finishes. The tool also supports integrating into several different companies.

AutoDIM is managed via the command line and is macros based. Contact your partner to get it.

Weekly Review: Integration Manager and Excel

Often users save Excel files to CSV or Tab delimited files for use with Integration Manager. IM provides a way to skip the conversion and just import an Excel file. To make this work you simply need to define a range in the Excel file first. Then create a simple ODBC data source and pick the Excel driver. Select the Excel file and the range.

Now you can skip the middle man and integrate directly from Excel.

Weekly Review: Fast Access to Integrations in Dynamics GP

A common scenario with integrations is that some users only run them on a periodic basis and it’s tough for these user to remember how to access Integration Manager. Conversely there may also be a set of employees who regularly run integrations and would like fast access to IM.
A simple solution for both scenarios is to add IM to either the Shortcut Bar or the Menu Bar. On the Shortcut bar, add an external file and find IMRUN.exe to add the ability to run integrations. On the menu bar, right click to customize and Run Integrations… from the Dynamics GP | Tools tree.

The DynamicsCare support desk is seeing a recent spike in problems where Integration Manager Freezes after Integration is Complete.

They’ve traced it back to a problem with the Connect feature on the Dynamics GP home page. Details and a link back to the appropriate MS KB are included in the post.

Weekly Dynamic: Integration Manager Option

When using integration manager sometimes things don’t come in as expected. For example, vendor information integrates but the addresses don’t. In cases like this it’s important to check the Options tab on the Destination settings. Often the source recordset is incorrect or not set at all. Simply point the record set to the correct source file and everything works.
