SQL Server Consolidation

Andrew Fryer's Blog has a brief discussion of the options for SQL Server consolidation including multiple instances, consolidating databases to a single server and virtualization. He give some brief pros and cons for each approach and then points to a more detailed Microsoft white paper that covers the topic.
If you're trying to reduce your SQL Server overhead, reduce energy costs and better utilize your hardware, make sure you take a look at Andrew's post.

My New Column on MSDynamicsWorld.com

I'm thrilled to be doing some writing for MSDynamicsWorld.com My first column is up at http://msdynamicsworld.com/story/configuration-development/solution-dilemma-server-proliferation.

In it I spend some time talking about server proliferation and it's impact on Dynamics GP. It seems like every piece of Dynamics GP now wants its own server and I discuss some ways to deal with that. Make sure you check it out!

The MS Dynamics World column has a more strategic/executive focus so it should complement the blog nicely. I actually have an editor so my writing should be better too!

This blog will continue to be about using Dynamics GP day to day. Steve Jobs says nobody reads any more in America. Prove him wrong by reading my stuff!
