Microsoft Watch gives its take on the business unit with the release on GP10 and SL7. The article is pretty balanced but not perfect. I'm not sure it's fair to compare time to value between a CRM and and ERP product. I don't see anyone comparing Saleforce.com implementations to SAP.
But the Dynamics ERP products do have to deal with feature overlap including down the chain with SBF and Office Accounting. And yes the partner channel continues to create issues because it's so different from the rest of MS. Then again, I've heard about partner issues since 1999. You can't implement GP without help. In reality, most people who use Quickbooks shouldn't implement it without help. So the partners aren't going away, the relationship will just continue to be refined.
