Microsoft announced late yesterday that are adding Position Control to HR & Payroll. A brief description from the release is below.
Position Control Summary:
Position Control is a
Human Resource and Payroll function that is required by customers in
industries such as the Public Sector (i.e. State and Local Government,
Education…etc.) The management of labor budgets and human resources
based upon specific job functions and a specific head count is a
driving force behind Position Control. Constraints are then applied
throughout the Human Resource and Payroll system to enforce the
business rules and to manage the movement of human resources throughout
the organization.
What I found interesting is that the announcement indicates that it will be available in Fall of 2008 as part of SP3. I wasn't expecting SP3 until late 2008/early 2009 based on the announced rough 6 month schedule for service packs. I've never considered year end to be fall so might get SP3 earlier than expected.
