Newer versions of Excel (2007 and 2010 for sure) provide an option to remove duplicates. This can be very handy when working with source data designed to go into Dynamics GP or with data exported from GP. Here is how you do it.
- Open up Excel file
- Select Data | Remove Duplicates
- If you have headers mark that in the box that opens. Select the columns that have duplicates. So if you have 1 vendor repeated over and over with different addresses, only mark the vendor column to remove duplicate vendors. Click OK
- View the results
For some reason this is the kind of thing that makes people upset when I show it to them. Usually because they’ve just spend hours doing the hard way.
